Your Knuckleball™ will be with you for years to come. We would like to offer some tips on keeping it clean and looking its best.
Gentle Cleaning
At its core, the Knuckleball™ is a plant-based product. We definitely understand the desire to sanitize, especially in a pandemic situation. However, you don’t want to use any harsh solvents.
Soap & Warm Water work best!
If you want to give it a good scrub, use a sponge or washcloth rather than a bristly brush.
Treat your Knuckleball™ the way you would a piece of stained wood furniture.
Keeping it Shiny
As you use your Knuckleball™ it will naturally become even smoother and shinier from the oils of your skin. However, after a good cleaning, it may temporarily fade…especially if you’ve used a harsh chemical cleaner.
A little bit (and we mean a tiny bit!) of your favorite plant oil will bring back the luster and shine. Coconut, Olive, Avocado, Sesame…pretty much any vegetable oil from your kitchen will work well.
A dab of oil on a soft cloth will bring back that shine.
Things to Avoid
The Knuckleball™ is a hardy little tool, but we all have our limits.
Heat is a no no! The PLA component of the knuckleball will soften around 185°F. Most of us don’t walk around in an oven so this is usually not a problem. Even the inside of a parked car only gets up to around 113°F on the hottest of summer days.
Avoid the urge to put your Knuckleball™ in the dishwasher please!
Otherwise, you want to keep your Knuckleball™ away from solvents such as hot benzene, tetrahydrofuran, dioxane, dichloromethane, and etheylacetate in the off chance that you work in a chemistry lab.
